About

Author and climate rofessional Ian Hunt was born in Ohio where he fondly remembers winters filled with snow and sledding. When studying theatre in Indianapolis, Hunt noticed the winters getting warmer and less snowy, while also noticing pollution in the communities around where he grew up and lived.

When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the theatre industry, Hunt pivoted to the Backcountry trails program, where he lived in a tent, had mules hike his crew letters from the outside world, and immersed himself in conservation work in the California Sierras. From there he worked in water conservation in the Yosemite area. In California, Hunt witnessed, and evacuated from wildfires first hand, and experienced significant weather variability that affected his work and home security enough to understand that the climate crisis has arrived well into the modern day.

Hunt moved to NYC to earn his MA in Climate + Society from the Columbia Climate School, where he still resides. Working in the Circular Economy, Hunt writes anywhere and everywhere he can. Most of his writing centers on how people can help change the world for the better.
